James (Jim) Howard Mintz, 73, of Ottawa, Ontario, passed away, Sunday, April 14, 2019 at the Ottawa General Hospital surrounded by close family.
Jim was born July 28, 1945 in Montreal, QC to Eva and Benjamin Mintz. On November 15, 1969, he married his loving wife Molly Friberg. Jim was considered a pioneer in the field of Social Marketing. He was the Director of Communications at Heath Canada for many years. He was also a Marketing professor at both Ottawa and Carleton University. When he retired from the government, he and a business partner created the Centre of Excellence for Public Sector Marketing providing consulting services. In his leisure time, he enjoyed reading, camping travelling, watching sports, and comedy shows. He loved spending time with his children and grandchildren whenever he could.
Jim is survived by his wife Molly, his son, Adam Mintz and his wife Cynthia of Toronto ON, and his daughter Elana (nee Mintz) Miller and her husband Simon of Vancouver, BC, two grandchildren, Julien Miller (8) and Isaac Cheng Mintz (6 mos), his sister Miriam (nee Mintz) Malcus of Montreal, QC and his brother Archie Mintz of Montreal QC, along with several nieces and nephews.
